Someone close to me was just offered a job that she had years ago, but the pay was about 2/3 what it was then.  This is not a new story.  Sometimes it happens because employers have hundreds of applications for each job and CAN pay less.  Sometimes it happens because revenues have fallen and that's all an employer can pay.  Sometimes it's because companies are feeling insecure and as a result, watch every penny.  Has this happened to you?  Your industry?  What steps have you taken to keep the pay you need?
