It isn't a short answer. You need to start hustling and create a plan for yourself. Nothing grand. Start small and build from there. First thing, based on the signals you have been receiving from your parents, that it is time to stand on your own two feet.

With regard to being a manager, I suggest you start by reading what is available within Walgreens on this option. What is the process? How do they hire? What does a current employee do to get on this track?

You will also have to consider whether your performance warrants this kind of move.

Either way, it sounds like it is time to get serious. If your parents are reasonable, my bet is that if you made progress, showed that you had a plan, and negotiated some key milestone dates, they might cut you a little slack.

What are you going to do?

The only key milestone date is getting out within a month, and it's non-negotiable. My mom actually wanted me out within two days, and I'm glad it's a month.
