Hi EssTee,

You have a great resume for your teaching career, but you will need to revise this to show how you are qualified for your new objective. Have you decided on the type of position you're targeting?

Hi Kim,

Thanks for your response. I have previous experience in project management, so something in that vein, or some type of admin work.

I really don't understand how to quantify some of my accomplishments. As an art teacher, I can't brag about improved test scores.

Thank you!

Hi EssTee,

You will most likely need two versions of your resume -- one tailored to project management and the other for administrative positions. As you have previous project management experience, you can bring that to the forefront of your resume for your PM version. You can also modify your Summary section to highlight your most relevant qualifications.

Work on identifying skills and accomplishments that are transferable from teaching to your new goal. For your administrative version, focus on the admin end of teaching -- report writing, communicating, using computers, etc. For project management, think about your role in assisting with special projects, ways that you facilitated successful project completion, ability to meet deadlines, etc.

A good starting point is to study job ads for positions that interest you. See if there are skills and other credentials that are frequently requested. You can then write about your most relevant qualifications.
