Hello Kim,

I am struggling to name my CV or Profile because I want to change my career.  I am German, worked mostly in Customer Service because of my language skills and spent some time doing IT Support. Now, I am looking to change  my career in a direction I am actually interested in because after having worked many years in these areas I have given up on getting the chance to use the skills I want to use.  I have excellent admin, problemsolving and organisational skills which I would love to employ in a fashion retail environment. I do have a qualification and some work experience in Retail and trained as a dressmaker and I am sure that I could make a good employee combining all of my skills and experiences. I would be prepared to accept a customer service role in fashion retail to get my foot in the door although I am looking at Merchandising and Ecommerce. To keep my options somewhat open, I cannot give my profile one particular name.

Well I guess, I actually require advice on how to go about it AND on naming my CV and approaching companies.
For now I would be very thankful on some good advise on naming my Profile to start applying and also being better found by recruiters.

Many thanks,
Tina

Hi Tina_in_Scotland,

It sounds like you have excellent qualifications for your career change! It's always more challenging to "name" your profile when you're changing careers, but I've found that the best approach is to include your new job target even if you don't have hands-on work experience. Be straightforward, such as "Seeking a customer service position in the retail fashion industry." It's best not to make a very general, all-encompassing profile as you can easily be overlooked without a clear goal. You might need to set up more than one resume version given your various job targets.

I hope this is helpful and good luck to you!
Best wishes,
Kim Isaacs
