Currently, I am an assistant property manager in Los Angeles, CA. That being said, I am looking for a second part time job. I found a job opening today working with a broker on dealing with loans.

Which letter should I send this person? Of course I will attach my resume with my letter.

Letter 1:

I came across your ad on craigslist. I am very much interested in working with you.
My name is -------------. I currently live in the city of Mar Vista. I help manage a 48 unit apartment complex. My responsibilities include:

¨ Marketing and promotion of vacancies via Rent.com, Craigslist and Facebook.

¨ Provide tour guide of vacant units, building and amenities to prospective tenants.

¨ Review lease terms with new tenants/lessees

¨ Collect rent checks, process rent rolls and other bookkeeping duties

¨ Initiate and supervise maintenance requests

On the weekends I promote clubs in the city of West Hollywood. My job there is to speak with the public. I grab their attention and bring them into clubs. So as you can see, I deal with people all the time. I am very excited about the position. I am looking forward to hearing from you very soon.

Thank you very much.

Or Letter 2:

I am writing to express my interest in your recently advertised position for a Office Manager/Administrative Assistant. Please find below my resume with details about my background, work experience and qualifications. I am very people oriented, customer service focused and an avid team player. Currently, as Assistant Property Manager, tenants constantly give me "Thank You" cards and chocolates as an expression of gratitude for my expedient resolution of their maintenance requests and for being a professional and friendly Assistant Manager.

Hi razsports,

I prefer letter #2 as it seems to be more targeted to the job opening and your relevant qualifications. The letter needs to be proofread and edited to correct errors (e.g., "an" office manager, lowercase job titles, etc.). You can also add a line or two explaining why you would be the perfect candidate. What do you bring to the table that would benefit this employer? Can you describe more office management-related skills and accomplishments that this employer would find desirable?

I hope this helps and good luck with this opportunity!
Best wishes,
Kim Isaacs
