Hello,

I'm in the process of updating my resume and need help on my resume.  I have been  my current place of employment for 25 years and started at the bottom and worked my way up.  My question is, how should I start the position listings and job responsibilities?  A lot of the job responsibilities overlap all of the positions I had to perform to advance in my career, and do not know if or how do I address this.

Thank You,

Matt

Hi Matt8838,

You don't have to list every job that you've held with this employer. Focus on the more recent positions, especially ones that are relevant to your current career goal. There's no "right" way to approach this, so you have leeway to present the jobs in the best way for you.

Here's one example of a layout that could work:

ABC COMPANY - City, ST - 1987 to Present
Career has progressed through the ABC Co organization, a leading provider of ___ (describe the company)

Current Job Title,
Dates
Describe current position and include a list of your top accomplishments...

Previous Job Title,
Dates
Describe previous position and include a list of your top accomplishments...

Previous Job Title, Dates
Describe previous position and include a list of your top accomplishments...

Earlier Jobs: Held positions as ___, ___, and ____... (Include a brief description of what you did when you started at the company.)
Best wishes,
