I'm just looking for a little advice here on what I should do for a resume for a job that won't really be a permanent position for me.

I've been working on a couple of resumes for various areas of my field of training and interest, but I'm currently working on a resume for line cook type work.

I've got experience from working for 4 years at two different restaurants, but that was from 2003-2007. After that I worked in a totally different field then got laid off and went to school for almost 3 years.

So as it is now I'm not really sure how to handle a situation where I'm working a job to pay bills but know that if I get something in my field I will be leaving, and for all I know it could be weeks or months before I find work in my field.

Hi GRNDPNDR,

One strategy is to re-order your experience so you lead with your relevant restaurant work. You can label the section "Professional Cook Experience" and include your restaurant jobs so they're front and center. You can also use your "Qualifications Summary" to mention your line cook experience and expertise.

It's a good idea to have a second resume version that is more tailored to your long-term goals. The more you customize your resume to the job you're targeting, the more successful it will be.

I hope this helps!
Best wishes,

I've got 3 different resumes, and each one is tailored as much as I can for the job, but I'm an engineer not a wordsmith, it takes me a long time to setup a resume for a single position.
