Kim,
Thank you for the suggestions. I will update accordingly.
I have question, I have been in the IT area of utility companies and I plan to transition to a core IT company and feel specifying solution architect and operations support in the utility industry may work against me when applying to a core IT company.

Your thoughts?

Regards
Sam

Hi Sam,

Good point -- it's usually more challenging to switch industries, even if you have the required skills and experience. Try to downplay any utility-specific terms and write about accomplishments that would cross over to other industries. A good approach is to imagine you worked for a core IT company and were hiring -- what skills and accomplishments would you be looking for? Always think about the employers' point of view and the qualifications they would find most desirable.
Best wishes,
Kim Isaacs

Hi SamSankaran,

Thanks for posting your revised resume -- it looks better! I still think you need to include a clearer job target. You do mention solutions architect, but as you have management experience, spell out the level that you're targeting so hiring managers are clear about what you are looking to do. You can try adding a Headline, which is a banner that appears above your Career Profile, like this:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Job Target: Solutions Architect Manager for a Technology Company
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Your Experience section would be stronger if you included more results of your projects. I know the information isn't always available, but think about how your work impacted the business or customers. For example, for the northeast utilities project, how did your solutions improve service restoration on the East Coast? Can the improvements be measured/quantified? For each of your accomplishments, provide measurable results (if available) of your leadership and IT projects.

I would also rename the heading from "Relevant Experience" to "Professional Experience." Saying "relevant" makes the reader think you also have irrelevant experience, but you're showing a steady work history in your field.
Best wishes,
Kim Isaacs

Kim,
Thank you for the tips. I have reworked the resume adding quantifiable activities where possible. I am targeting from Senior Manager to a Director level so I hesitate to put the target in the resume as I feel it may limit the areas I am being considered. Please take a look at the changed resume and I really appreciate your time on this. My changes are
1. Added a line describing who I am.
2. Reworked the career profile
3. Added career highlights section
4. Added a couple lines with each professional experience to summarize my role at the company
5. Combined the bullets to reduce the sea of bullets
6. Added numbers to indicate achievements
7. Major formatting changes that are lost in converting to text :-(
